AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE
Sporting champions are often mythologised, but this documentary dares to challenge the narrative by focusing on the deeply human psychological turmoil faced by British Formula One champion Damon Hill in his pursuit of the win.
In the shadow of his late Formula One champion father Graham Hill, who prematurely died in a plane crash when he was fifteen, Damon feels the weight of responsibility to live up to his father’s success. Further haunted by the shocking death of his Brazilian teammate Ayrton Senna during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, and his intense rivalry with German racer Michael Schumacher, Damon’s mind becomes a pressure cooker. His greatest battle is not on the racetracks, but with himself.
The meaning of victory itself is questioned when overcoming crushing self-doubt becomes a greater achievement than any championship. Piecing together archival footage with intimate interviews with Damon and his wife Georgie, Hill paints a gripping and personal picture of what it takes to be a world champion.
