Teatro di San Carlo: Luisa Miller

Teatro di San Carlo: Luisa Miller

Teatro di San Carlo: Luisa Miller

From Naples’ historic Teatro di San Carlo, where ‘Luisa Miller’ was originally premiered and where it now opens the 2026 operatic season, comes a new production of Verdi’s soaring dramatic gem from acclaimed director Davide Livermore, with Daniel Oren conducting a cast of outstanding Verdian voices. This gripping opera tells the story of Luisa (Italian soprano Mariangela Sicilia), a young woman whose faith and love are tested by the ambitions and intrigues that surround her. Her devotion to her father and her beloved Rodolfo (internationally sought-after tenor Piotr Beczała, making his Naples debut) is set against a backdrop of class prejudice, manipulation and moral compromise. Salvatore Cammarano's libretto is inspired by Friedrich Schiller’s vision of theatre as a “moral institution” that exposes injustice and vice.
