The Great Escaper

Living legend Michael Caine plays Bernard Jordan who in 2014 made global headlines when staged a "great escape" from his UK old age home to join fellow war veterans in France commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings. It’s a story that embodies the defiant, "can-do" spirit of a generation that was fast disappearing. Bernie's adventure, spanning a mere 48 hours, also marked the culmination of his 60-year marriage to Rene (the final role for Glenda Jackson, Sunday Bloody Sunday). It’s a wonderful last hurrah for Jackson and there is something moving and even awe-inspiring in seeing these two British icons together.
